Our company, Outdoor Expressions, has been providing our high-quality services to property owners in East Lansing, MI, and the surrounding areas since 2002. We are currently looking to add a new construction carpenter to our growing team! The person selected for this position will need to have successfully completed either a vocational school, technical college, or apprenticeship program, or have at least 3 years of experience via on-the-job training.

Our office is located in Lansing, MI, and all applicants must live in or near the greater Lansing area.


Construction Carpenter Responsibilities:

  • Measure, mark, and arrange materials to establish layouts based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors
  • Cut and shape structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall
  • Use various hand and power tools to build assigned projects
  • Create wooden forms for pouring concrete or for tunnel, bridges, or sewer construction projects
  • Install windows and doors
  • Adhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding
  • Ensure the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, and framing squares, and correct problems as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Construction Carpenter Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to understand directions and read blueprints
  • Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately
  • Ability to properly use and care for tools of the trade
  • Must have a thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods
  • Work well as part of a team

Construction Carpenter Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to stand, climb, bend, or kneel for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
  • Must be able to safely use sharp tools and power equipment
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains
  • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination

Pay:

  • $20-$25/hr, depending on experience
